Understanding Discontinued Line Item Codes

The Discontinued flag for an inventoried line item code (LIC) removes the item from automatic inventory replenishment processes.

This means that if the item would normally be put on backorder, aACE would instead display a message that a backorder is not allowed and the order would be kept in Pending status. To progress the order, you could:

  • Manually purchase additional units
  • Reduce the Quantity of units on the order
  • Clear the Discontinued flag on the LIC record

Discontinued LICs and Deactivated LICs

When the On Hand inventory balance for a discontinued LIC reaches zero and the final shipping record is marked Shipped, the system will automatically deactivate the LIC record. If a unit of that item is later returned by a customer, aACE will automatically reactivate the LIC record, keeping the Discontinued flag still marked. That returned item could be included on other orders. When subsequent orders again reduce the On Hand balance to zero, the LIC record would again be automatically deactivated.

Note: If other references to the LIC are still in place, it cannot be deactivated.
